Fort Worth United Team Models
At Fort Worth United, we believe that the select/competitive development program should be extended to all players regardless of skill level.  At the same time, we believe in providing our teams a platform to ensure that they can compete at the highest possible level of play.  Furthermore, FWU's community involvement initiatives endeavor to offer affordable club soccer development programs for all players, regardless of their income. At first blush, these tenets may appear to be paradoxical.

To solidify those objectives, FWU operates using a unique team model concept.  Consisting of Metals, Colors, and Metro teams, the FWU Team Model will ensure our teams continue to receive the best possible service and development opportunities catered to each player's specific goals and objectives.

The team model concept serves to (1) provide our players with a more precise, defined development and cost structure suitable for each individual player/team (2) allow FWU to continue to remain competitive at the very highest levels of play, and (3) continue to contribute back to our local community and underprivileged players.  To extend those objectives, "team models" have been introduced and will include Metals teams, Colors teams, and Metro teams. Each team model is defined as follows:

Colors teams - Blue, White, Red, Black
Our traditional FWU team - a high degree of focus on the development of each individual player in a challenging but fun environment.  These teams are granted more control over how they wish to operate their team.  They choose their tournaments, practice schedules, and leagues that they want to play in and follow a structured development program defined by their individual coach but within the guidelines of Fort Worth United's player development principles.  Although Colors teams compete at the highest level desired by their team, their coach is extended the freedom to dictate the direction of the team.
  • Focus on development of each individual player
  • Development program dictated by coach within the guidelines of Fort Worth United's player development principles
  • Tournament and league selection made by team
  • Compete at league level determined by the team’s coach
  • Camps and indoor opportunities dictated by the team’s coach
  • Strict dress code at practices
  • Guest player policy dictated by coach of the team
  • Periodic rotation of coaches
  • Low cost

Metals teams - Gold, Silver, Bronze, Copper
For players and teams that want to compete at the highest level of play and are willing to commit to a higher, and defined, team operations structure.  Metals teams have strict requirements that they must commit to including a minimum number of practices per week and required hours of community service.  Metals teams will compete at the highest possible level in a structured, disciplined environment with several aspects and expectations dictated by the Club and its Directors.

  • Focus on development of players and success of the team
  • Practice minimum dictated by Club and player contract with required “ramp up” in frequency before major competitive events (e.g. tournaments)
  • Some tournament choices dictated by Club
  • Attendance at specific camps required by the Club
  • Required community service and special appearances for Fort Worth United Soccer Club
  • Compete at highest level of play
  • Required indoor in between league seasons
  • Strict dress code at practices, games, and during tournament travel
  • Guest play limitations and restrictions dictated by club policy
  • Frequent rotation of coaches
  • Medium cost

Metro teams - Metro Blue, Metro White, Metro Red, Metro Black
For players and independent teams who cannot otherwise afford to play club soccer but wish to obtain limited club services while operating on an independent basis.  Dues are lower and costs are constrained in order to provide a more affordable solution for any player, regardless of income level, that wishes to participate in club soccer.  Extensive fundraising initiatives provide each player an opportunity to earn revenue that is applied to their dues.  Yet another opportunity for Fort Worth United to contribute back to the local community.

  • Focus on development of each individual player
  • Development program dictated by coach within the guidelines of Fort Worth United's player development principles
  • Begin play in lowest level league
  • Tournament participation at the discretion of the team’s coach
  • Compete at league level determined by the team’s coach
  • Camps and indoor opportunities dictated by the team’s coach
  • Guest player policy dictated by coach of the team
  • Rotation of coaches dictated by the Director of Coaches
  • Lowest cost
